Minesweeper Patterns
A pattern is a recurring number combination with only one possible solution. Memorizing these patterns helps you speed up your reasoning process.
Game Rules
This Minesweeper site includes single-player, no-guess, 1v1 versus, group co-op, AI partner, hint and replay features. It works for new players learning the game and experienced players doing speed runs, covering all play styles.
Basic Rules
- Minesweeper is played on a grid. Mines are placed randomly based on your chosen difficulty, with a maximum of one mine per cell, and every game has a unique layout. Your goal is to safely reveal every cell that does not contain a mine. Clear the entire board to win; clicking a cell with a mine ends your game immediately as a loss.
- When you open a safe cell, the number shown tells you how many mines sit in adjacent cells: center cells can have up to 8 neighbors, edge cells up to 5, and corner cells only 3. Opening an empty cell will automatically reveal all connected blank, mine-free cells in a chain reaction.
- Right-click to place flags on cells you suspect hold mines, so you avoid accidentally clicking them. The core of the game is deducing mine locations using the numbers on the board, working through unknown cells logically. Flag all mines and reveal all safe cells to finish the game.
Controls
- Left-click an unrevealed cell: Opens the cell, showing its number or triggering a mine hit; this is your basic move to progress through the game.
- Right-click an unrevealed cell: Places a flag to mark suspected mines, separating mine areas from safe zones. Right-click a flagged cell a second time to remove the flag and fix wrong guesses.
- Left-click an already revealed numbered cell: Our site’s custom smart logic shortcut that triggers three automatic behaviors: ① If the cell’s number minus nearby flag count matches the number of unopened neighbors left, it will auto-flag those remaining cells as mines; ② If nearby flags equal the cell’s number exactly, it instantly opens all adjacent safe cells for you; ③ If neither rule applies, it highlights surrounding cells to help you map out your next logical steps.
- Important Note: If you’ve placed flags incorrectly, this auto feature can accidentally uncover a mine and lose your game. Accurate flagging is required for this tool to work reliably.
Core Modes & Features
- 1. 👤 Classic Single Player: Faithful original Minesweeper rules with Beginner, Intermediate, Expert and fully custom difficulty settings, generating randomized boards each match. Great for practicing deduction logic, honing your clicking speed, and trying to beat your personal best times for casual play and consistent practice.
- 2. 🧩 No-Guess Mode: Built to eliminate forced guesses common in standard Minesweeper. Every board is algorithm checked so you can solve the whole game step-by-step starting from your starting cell, with zero random guesswork needed. Toggle this mode on/off from the sidebar menu, perfect for building disciplined, methodical solving skills.
- 3. ⚔️ 1v1 Versus Mode: Head-to-head speed competition. Two players play on an identical mine layout, racing to clear the board faster and more accurately. Whoever uncovers all safe cells first wins, ideal for competing against friends and testing your speed-solving skill.
- 4. 🤝 2-Player Co-op: Collaborative play where both players share one board with synchronized moves. Split up mine-checking work, fill in each other’s blind spots and avoid mistakes together. There’s no competitive pressure, making it great for casual hangouts or new players learning side-by-side.
- 5. 🤖 AI Partner System: Fills empty slots for two-player matches. If no human joins your versus or co-op room after waiting, an AI will join automatically. You can also manually invite an AI to play with or against you. Use the sidebar toggle to turn off auto-AI joining if you only want real-player lobbies.
- 6. 👨👩👧 Group Team Co-op: Lets three or more people play on the same board together. Players can join or leave an ongoing game without disrupting the match for everyone else. Split up tasks to clear the full board as a team, with strong social interaction that works well for group activities and team building.
- 7. 💡 Pattern Hints & 🪄 Auto-Solver Tool: Smart helper tool that suggests your best next move and walks through full solution animations to teach standard solving patterns and fix flawed logic. This tool is automatically disabled during versus matches to keep competition fair.
- 8. 👁️ Live Spectator Mode: Watch any public match running on the site in real time, seeing each player’s choices and overall game progress. Watch skilled players to pick up better strategies and quickly level up your own gameplay.
- 9. ▶️ Full Match Replay: Rewind any completed game from any mode in full. Drag the timeline or step frame-by-frame to review every cell open and flag placement. Use replays to spot your own mistakes and improve your rhythm, or study top players’ games to learn advanced solving and speedrunning tactics.
